Charles “Charlie” L Ball, 69, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, after a heroic battle with cancer. Charlie was born on July 10, 1952, to Lawrence and Dorothy Ball in Borger, Texas.
He decided to go into the U.S. Navy and served for a total of eight years. Stationed first in San Diego, California, he went on a military tour in 1989. While in Hong Kong, he met the love of his life, Evelyn, and they married in 1990 in San Diego, spending 32 years together before his passing.
Charlie Junior was born in 1991 in Orange County, California. Charlie loved his son and took great pride in saving and planning for his education. It was important to him to send his son to university since he never went himself.
They moved to Odessa, Texas, in 1993 and settled down for the next few decades of life.
Charlie worked in the Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) in maintenance at Ector Junior High School for many years. He retired officially in 2014 but ended up working part time as a school crossing guard until he got sick.
Charlie enjoyed retirement. He loved to work in the yard and make it beautiful. He also loved technology - he wanted the latest gadgets, the biggest televisions … if it had a cord and could make life easier, he wanted it.
Charlie is survived by his wife and son, Evelyn, and Charlie, as well as many friends and family from all over the United States and Philippines.
Viewing will be Tuesday, March 22 from 6 PM – 8PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 23 at 10:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas.
