Chessa Northington Vines, age 82, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 in Lubbock, TX.
Chessa was born May 8, 1933, to Jackson Coy and Lucy Nothington in Altus, Oklahoma the youngest of three sisters. She graduated Oklahoma A&M. She married Dr. Sam Vines in Odessa on June 30, 1956. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher from ECISD after 26 years and taught for 3 years at St. Johns Episcopal.
Chessa is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Sam Vines, her parents, Jackson Coy and Lucy Northington and daughter in law, Kelly Shifflet Vines.
Survivors include two sons, Vince Vines of Odessa, and Vic Vines of Dallas; one granddaughter, Callie and husband David Marvin, and great grandson, Crew of Dallas; three grandsons , Jake Vines of Dallas, Jackson and Grayson Vines of Odessa; sisters, Joyce Wilson of Altus, Oklahoma and Patricia Montgomery of Hereford, TX; nieces, Gwen Truby and Jone Gittinger; nephews, Brent Wilson, Mauri and Jay Montgomery and brother in law, William Vines of Lubbock, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Byron McWilliams and Reverend Curtis Brewer officiating.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Odessa,TX.
