Christine Rabe

Christine Pearl Rabe, age 92 of Odessa, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Odessa.

She was born April 15, 1921 in Baylor County, Texas to Mattison Lee Wood and Leatha Earl Caussey Wood. In 1942 she moved to Levelland following her husband to the oil field in West Texas. They settled in Odessa in the late 1940s. She began working for the City of Odessa as Municipal Court Clerk in 1960 and retired in 1986.

In her spare time she and her husband were breeding and raising horses, and racing quarter horses. She enjoyed yard work and growing flowers. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed having family for the holidays. She was a member of Eisenhower Church of Christ.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Marvin Rabe, her son, Fred Lee Rabe, great grandson, Brandon Lee Shipley, great granddaughter, Mackenzie Lee Davison, two brothers, Obie Wood and Peary Wood and four sisters, Mayme King, Louis McConnell, Mildred Wood and Hazel Morris.

Survivors include her daughter, Pennie Smith and husband Garry of Chico, Texas daughterinlaw, Lou Ann Rabe of Odessa brothers, M. L. Wood and wife Doris of Lonestar, and Boyce Wood of Kermit sister Neva Carrigan and husband Harold of Odessa 5 grandchildren, Debra Shipley and husband Terry, Lee Rabe and wife Traci, Lisa Mackey and husband Buck, Darla Bailey, Lance Brasuel and wife Tammy 17 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Monday, April 22, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Alan Weekland officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Terry Shipley, Lee Rabe, Justin Shipley, Mike Heard, Todd Bailey and Lance Brasuel.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to Odessa Christian School, 2000 Doran Drive, Odessa, Texas, 79761.
