Clarence M. (Joe) Hemphill of Odessa, TX passed away March 24, 2015 at the age of 89, son of Elmer and Emily Hemphill, born February 4, 1926 in St. Jo, TX. Mr. Hemphill was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy aboard Naval Aircraft Carrier USS White Plains. He was very patriotic and held our country's well-being in the highest regard.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his wife and family on trips they would take to Timberon, N.M. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren teaching them how to fish and watching his grandson play Little League Baseball. He loved sports. He was an avid MOJO football fan. He also enjoyed watching Texas Rangers Baseball and the Dallas Cowboys. He was loved by all who knew him and we will miss him every day.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Emily Hemphill and his brother, Edgar Hemphill.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 61 years, Peggy Hemphill; daughter, Kathy and husband Terry Garrett; granddaughter, Kimberly and husband Jay Arrick; grandson, Cortney and wife Nealei Smith; great granddaughter, Lennon Kay Smith; sister-in-law Edna Hemphill and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 4:00 pm, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Harper officiating.
Pallbearers will be as follows: Cortney Smith, Jay Arrick, John Arrick, Terry Garrett, Bryan Johnston and Fred Vanderburg.
