Ann was born in Austin to Mary Lou and Alvis Glaspy on August 21st, 1953. She attended Permian High School in Odessa. She held several different jobs, ranging from fast food to plumbing supply. Each of these being recollected over the years with stories of the people she worked with and the laughs they had more than the tasks that were at hand. Ann dabbled in college courses at Odessa College but found that her passions led her down other paths. Ann’s priority was always the people that she knew and loved. This devotion led her to become the wife and mother that we all remember. She married Louis Bird, Jr. on April 20th, 1973, in Odessa.
Ann was gifted in all types of artistic expression. If there was a way to bring beauty to something, Ann would find it. This could be noted throughout her life. Although stories from her very youngest days may include her ability to punt a football farther than the boys down the street or circle the block faster than anyone else on a rusty old bicycle it wasn’t long before Ann’s interests evolved. She became proficient in all thing’s cosmetology. She was an avid crafter and painter. Her home, being adorned with paintings, ceramics, bird houses, landscaping and other marvels served as a “canvas” for her creativity. She was able to share this love of creation with her children, grandchildren and friends. There have been many fairy gardens, sculptures, paintings, drawings, wreaths, bows, decorations that have been brought to existence through her consistent enthusiasm, patient instructions, endless help and sincere encouragement.
Ann was a devoted disciple. She poured over scriptures, devotionals, and sermons. It seemed in her quest to improve the world around her, she found the gospel to be the greatest tool. She found the beauty in generously meeting the needs of others. She tirelessly attended to the needs of those she loved. I have never known another so willing to give her all to those that surrounded her. Ann’s greatest ambition was to be the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend that she possibly could.
Ann is preceded in death by her mother, father and her beloved Aunt Lou and Uncle John.
Ann is survived by her husband, Louis; her two sons, Matthew and Adam (Britney); her two sisters, Gae Glaspy and Sue Adcock; and six grandchildren, Zachary, Patrick, Braddock, Hudson, Charlotte, and Ella.
The pallbearers will be Matthew Bird, Zachary Bird, Patrick Bird, Adam Bird, Braddock Bird and Hudson Bird.
The family of Ann wishes to extend sincere thanks to all those who have offered up prayers and condolences on our behalf.
