CLYDENE BARNHILL
Clydene Barnhill, age 81, passed through the heavenly gates on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Home Hospice.
She was the first born child of Clyde Roy Scott and Annie Ruth Norman Scott. She was born in Childress, Texas on March 25, 1930 but the family relocated to Odessa when she was a toddler. Their family expanded with two more girls and two boys in the years to follow. She was a 1947 graduate of Odessa High School and was a member of the pep squad in the fall of 1946 when the Broncos won their only State Championship. She and her siblings enjoyed attending the OHS class reunions for many years.
In 1949, she met her soul mate, Bill Barnhill, while skating at the local roller rink in Odessa. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her death. Bill took his marriage vows seriously as he served as her caregiver these past few years when her health began to fail. What a blessing his selfless service was to her.
On July 18, 1953, their only child, Janice Ann was born. The three of them were a very close family and spent most of their times together.
Clydene went to work for Dr. J.D. Cone in 1955 and served as his office nurse, bookkeeper and great friend for 35 years until her retirement. She and Janice worked together for Dr. Cone for 7 of those years and they both felt blessed to have the opportunity to learn from such a wonderful doctor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ruth Scott brother Leroy Scott sister, June Trout in laws, Pearl and Chet Barnhill and her step grandson, Kevin Murrell.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Barnhill of the home her daughter, Janice Murrell and husband Wayne granddaughter, Kamie McAllister and husband Kelly one precious greatgranddaughter, Berklee Jade McAllister step granddaughter, Shea Murrell Showers and husband Karl step greatgrandsons, Joshua Tucker and Jacob Tucker sister, Netha Alsup and husband Richard brother, Charles Scott and wife Janice brotherinlaw, Bill Trout and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
