Connie Ann Lindsey Pate, age 51, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Connie was born October 5, 1960 in Frankfurt, Germany to Heidi Ahlfeldt Lindsey and her late father Vernon Lindsey. Spending her childhood in Snyder, San Angelo and Odessa, Texas she found her love and partner for life, Gary Pate in Alabama where they made a home in Columbus, Mississippi and eventually moved to the family property in rural Ethelsville, Alabama. Connie and Gary owned walking horses that they trained and rode. A passion they shared. Connie had a soft place for animals, to a fault. She would spend her last dollar to feed an animal whether it was familiar or abandon if she thought they needed it. She attended Goliad, Bowie Jr. High, and Odessa High School in Odessa. Later she attended The University of Mississippi for Women and East Mississippi Community College where she earned an associate degree. Former employers were the Columbus Marble Works and the Mississippi Sherriffs Boys Ranch.
Connie is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gary Pate. Preceding her in death was her father Vernon Lindsey, paternal Grandparents, Ralph and Lillian Lindsey and maternal Grandfather, Walter Ahlfeldt. Leaving behind was her sister, Karen Horsley of Abilene brother Walter Lindsey and his wife Karen of Odessa and two step brothers, Ricky Beardslee and Devin Beardslee, both of Crane her Mom Heidi Ahlfeldt Lindsey Beardslee and stepdad Rick of Midland her Motherinlaw, Atlas Pate Sistersinlaw, Tabby Pate and Tansy Pate and Brotherinlaw, Scott Pate, all of Ethelsville, Alabama Nieces and nephews are April Horsley Cleere, Wesley Horsley, Kayla Corley, Kara Lindsey Warren, Brittani Beardslee, Kristen Polvon, Kelsey, and Ricky Beardslee, Chesney Horsley, and Austin Cleere.
Visitation was held at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbus, Mississippi on Friday May 18 for her family and friends there.
Visitation with the family will be 67 PM Friday, June 1, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2012 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Bratcher officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
