Curtis Lewallen

August 10, 1926 — December 23, 2017

Curtis Lewallen, 91, a longtime resident of Odessa, stepped into Heaven's Glory on Saturday, December 23, 2017, surrounded by his beloved family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens and a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm at 1st Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Byron McWilliams and Reverend Curtis Brewer officiating.

Curtis was born August 10, 1926 in De Leon, Texas, and served his country in the US Army in Europe during World War II.

He married the love of his life, Kathryn, on April 23, 1948, and they spent the next 70 years together, building a life and family. Soon after their marriage, Curtis & Kathryn found their way to the
Midland-Odessa area during the post-war boom, spending the next twelve years working for his father in law, Cecil Plummer, at the Odessa Hotel Supply. In 1961 they ventured out on their own
to open Commercial Ice Machine Company, which grew and prospered under his leadership over the ensuing decades to the well-known Odessa business of today.

Curtis was a long-time and dedicated member of Odessa's First Baptist Church, and served as a deacon for many years, and his faith and love for Christ was one of his most well-known characteristics.
Curtis loved Jesus and everyone who knew him saw Jesus through him, as he lived his faith daily. He loved his family dearly, and was the patriarch and rock of a family that he saw as his greatest blessing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lewallen; his beloved mother and father in law, Cecil and Angie Plummer; Brother, Valton Lewallen; granddaughter Bethany Lewallen; brother-in-law Earl Plummer,
and his dear friend, Dub Porter.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of Odessa; son, David Lewallen and wife Cheryl; daughter Sherry Fox and husband Gerald; brother Harold, and wife LaRue, all of Odessa; brother-in-law Jerry Plummer and
wife Betty, of Houston; grandson James Lewallen and Michelle, of Odessa; granddaughter Staci Walker and Kevin, of Odessa; grandson Greg Fox and Cheryl of Seattle, WA; granddaughter Angela and Greg
Stanford of Abilene; granddaughter Sydney Lyle and Brandon, of Odessa; grandson Zachery Enriquez and Krissy, of Odessa. Thirteen great-grandchildren: Cody McCracken, Brianna Lewallen, Brandon McCracken,
Kaleb Walker, Kinslee Gonzalez, Maddie Jo Lyle, Branch Lyle, Hannah Enriquez, Breland Fox, Stratton Fox, Spencer Davis and Sterling Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Permian Basin Rehab Center in honor of Bethany Lewallen or to a charity of your choice.
