Daniel Alvey

Daniel Ray Alvey, 61 of Odessa died Friday, February 25, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital. Daniel was born in Odessa on May 28, 1949 to Floyd A. and Linda Alvey.

The family moved to Crane in 1957 where Daniel was educated. He was a member of the football team which had the nickname of the Mighty Mites due to the teams size. He was on the Crane golf team and earned a scholarship to Odessa College he graduated in 1968. He attended Odessa College and was a member of the golf team. He worked as a greens keeper at the old Green Acres County Club now the Odessa Country Club and a Sunset Golf Course. He later worked at several courses in the panhandle area. He enjoyed working in the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his father Floyd A. Alvey his brother, Bobby Joe Alvey brotherinlaw, W. Neil Clonts.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Alvey of Odessa sister Connie Clonts of Breckenridge, TX his sisterinlaw, Diane Alvey of Haskell, TX nieces Rachel Alvey, Cheri Clonts, Yvonne Chambers and husband Casey nephews, Dallas Alvey and wife Ahn, Sean Clonts and wife Cristy grandnieces Chloe and Emily.

Funeral service scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, February 28, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
