Danny Cox

Danny Earl Cox went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2021 at the age of 68.  He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children in his home.

Danny was born on February 8, 1953 in Odessa, Texas where he grew up in a family of four children, raised by his parents Cotton and Nell Cox.  He graduated from Odessa High School in 1971 where he was a star baseball player and went on to start his career in the oil and gas industry.  He later married Sherry Bell and remained in Odessa where they raised four children.  With a strong work ethic, he continually climbed the professional ladder until ultimately retiring as the Plant Manager of Cameron Measurements in 2015.

Danny was a devoted husband and Christian man, enjoying life and creating wonderful memories with his family and friends.  He was loved by all who knew him and went above and beyond to serve others.  He was a humble and generous man, a great storyteller, and never met a stranger.  It was often said you could not go anywhere without Danny having a chance encounter with someone he knew.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on vehicles, following and coaching sports, and traveling with his wife.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Cotton and Nell Cox; his sister, Louise Cox; his father-in-law, Roy Bell Sr.; and sister-in-law, Pam Roges.

Danny is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughter, Christa Pawelek and her husband Len; son, Curtis Cox and his wife Catrina; son, Heath Lentz and his wife Brenda; daughter, Candi Franco and her husband Dee; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Harris; and brother, Dean Cox and his wife Connie.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Cox, Heath Lentz, Dee Franco, Len Pawelek, Aaron Franco, Michael Franco, Roy Bell, and Danny Dean Cox.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Cox and Phillip Holley.

All services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.  Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
