Darlene Katherine Stanley

Darlene Katherine “Kathy” Stanley passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Kathy was born February 19, 1953, to Edward Lee and Mary Katherine Sparks in Andrews Texas. Kathy grew up in Odessa Texas and Graduated from Permian High School in 1971. She married Thomas Wilson Stanley on November 11, 1972. Kathy attended Midessa Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Kathy stayed active with her kids and grandkids. Mawmaw, as she was known by many, was always ready to take the grandkids on a road trip. She would lovingly take all 8 by herself when she felt like an adventure. She hosted many Sunday night dinners with her family and many friends that were also her family. She would always bestow good and sweet motherly advice. Kathy loved her grandchildren so much; they even got their own towels to use at the pool! She was always the happiest when surrounded by kids and family.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Thomas Wilson Stanley of Midland, Texas; her two sons, Chad Wilson Stanley of Midland, Texas and daughter in law, Laura Jean Stanley of Midland, Texas, and Ryan Stanley and wife Valerie Stanley of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Shawnna Zachary and husband Lary Zachary of Midland, Texas.

Other survivors include sisters, Dorris Ann (Dee) Heap of Elgin, Texas and Edwinna Hudson of Odessa, Texas; a brother, Dale Sparks of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Kathrine Parum, Lexi Stanley, Koy Stanley, Cari Stanley, Roy Stanley, Thraci Zachary, and Cade Zachary.; great grandson, James Craig.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lee and Mary Katherine Sparks; and her oldest grandson, Cole Wilson Stanley.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
