HUTTO, TX — Darvin Poyner, a quietly generous and introverted soul, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Born on April 5, 1955, in St. Jo, TX, Darvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Becky Poyner; and his parents, Walter “Les” and Jody Poyner.
Darvin is survived by his loving son, Jason Poyner; and his adopted son, Trent Mitchell. Cherishing the simple joys found in the company of his family, Darvin leaves behind four brothers, Roy Poyner, Jimmy Poyner, Tommy Poyner, and Walter Poyner Jr.; and a sister, Icy Kannel.
A man of few words, Darvin expressed love and kindness through his actions rather than through grand gestures. A born-again Christian, his faith was a personal compass guiding him with principles of love, humility, and compassion. Darvin’s generosity will be remembered through the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the unwavering faith he held dear. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his understated warmth and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Darvin’s heart.
A memorial service to celebrate Darvin’s life will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, TX, on January 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM CST. Following the service, Darvin will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Becky, at Rose Hill, Ector County Cemetery. The service, to be officiated by Chad Williams, will take place in the chapel only due to the expected cold weather.
May Darvin rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved wife, Becky, in the presence of Almighty God.
