David Alvarez

David Gomez Alvarez, age 65, of Odessa, TX, passed away on April 10, 2018 in Odessa.

Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mass of Catholic Burial will be at 10:00 am, Friday, April 13, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Chavez, officiant. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery.

David was born November 13, 1952 to Lorenzo and Paula Gomez Alvarez in Odessa, TX. He was raised in Pecos, TX by his grandparents, Mama and Papa and moved back to Odessa at the age of 13. He was educated in Odessa, attending Ector High School. David served in the United States Air Force. He married Catherine Hernandez on February 2, 1972 in Odessa, TX. David worked for the United States Post Office for 15 years, the Army Reserves for 10 years and was currently for ECISD as a custodian at Travis Elementary. He was an active member of the Eagles Lodge for the last 4 years. David attended St. Mary's Catholic Church here in Odessa.

David is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Alvarez; daughter, Emealda Hernandez and her husband, Ruben Hernandez; son, David (Davy) Alvarez and his wife, Sophia Bernal Alvarez, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Sebastian Hernandez, Katalina Hernandez, Alexander Hernandez and his wife, Audrie Munoz Hernandez, Kierstin Porras, Harlie Destiny Alvarez and one great grandson, Josiah Hernandez, all of Odessa; siblings, Linda Ocon and her husband, Leslie Ocon of Odessa, Felipa Cruz of Odessa, Maria Pina and her husband Raul Luis Pina of San Antonio, Lorenzo Alvarez of Odessa, Adelia Tijerena and her husband, Raul Tijerena of San Antonio and Lourdes Gonzalez and her husband, Carlos Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM.
