Dearl Taylor

Dearl Trent "Sonny Boy" Taylor, age 76, of Odessa, TX, went to be with our Lord on January 6, 2015.

Dearl was born on May 8, 1938 to John Gilbert and Beulah Lee Taylor in Electra, TX. Dearl moved to Odessa in 1942 where he started working for the Odessa American, throwing newspapers in the second grade until he graduated from Odessa High School. He was serving our country in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, NC when he met the love of his life Joann Owens. They were married on August 8, 1961 in Mullins, SC. They soon moved to Odessa. They were partners in all. Sonny loved working with his hands. He built homes, churches, schools and later on crosses. He loved his family most of all.

Dearl "Sonny Boy" is preceded in death by his brothers, Clovis Taylor, Robert Taylor, Possum Taylor; sisters, Wanda Nell and Mickie Dumond.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Taylor; daughter, Robin Provance and her husband Doug; son, Jay Taylor and his wife Leslie; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Victoria Provance, Addison, Ashton and Allison Taylor; one great granddaughter, Jaycee Lee Taylor; four sisters, Eunice "Skip" Wittie, Leona Wimberley, Jeri Noe, Glenda Haynie; sister in law, Deanie Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Sunset Funeral Home.

Fellowship will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, Lyndale and Grandview Ave, on Friday at 11:00 AM.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
