Delora Ann Goodin Kirby

ODESSA TX - Delora Ann Goodin Kirby, 79, passed away October 31, 2009, in the arms of her family.

She was born December 19, 1929, in Idabel, OK, to John and Iva Goodin. She was raised in Idabel, OK, and graduated from Idabel High School where she was the bands drum major. She married the love of her life, Doyle Manford Kirby, in 1947. After moving to Odessa, TX, she began selling and brokering antiques and jewelry out of her garage. One of the first female entrepreneurs in Odessa, Delora founded Red Door Antiques, the largest single-dealer antique store in West Texas at the time. She also owned antique stores in Ruidoso, Fort Davis, Austin, and had a jewelry booth in the Dallas World Trade Center. She was co-owner of K-Bar Arms with her husband. After retirement, she owned and operated Delora Kirby Estates. When she wasnt working, she loved to travel with her family taking them to England, France, Portugal, Whales, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Mediterranean, Turkey, Greece, and most of the states within the United States. She owned property in Fort Davis, San Angelo, Ruidoso, Kingsland, and Odessa.

Her hobbies were family, fishing, hunting, traveling, slot machines, gardening, and business. A strong, Christian woman, she was a former member of Crescent Park and Sherwood Baptist and a member of CrossRoads Fellowship.

Our Mother and Gaga is survived by her loving family; son, David Kirby and wife Linda of Cleveland, TX; daughter, Cindy Lee and husband Larry of Odessa; grandson, Greg Kirby, wife Christi, and their four children, Gregory, Hannah, Matthew and Tanner of The Woodlands; granddaughter, Amanda Hart, husband Jayson, and their two children Haley and Hagen of Odessa; grandson, Clint Lee and wife Cassie of La Marque; grandson, Dustin Lee of Odessa; and one sister, Glynda Dodd of Jenks, OK.

There will be formal visitation Monday night from 6 until 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Sunset Memorial Chapel services will be Tuesday, November 3rd, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Al Workman officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
