Delwyn Dee Phillips passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born September 17, 1936 in Dawson County, Texas to Thurmond Dee Phillips and Mabel Lisenbee Phillips. He attended school in Lamesa, Texas and graduated from Howard College. He worked for ASC in Garden City, Texas from 1956-1958, before moving to Odessa in June of 1958. He married Beverly Russell Phillips in October 1957 in Ackerly, Texas. He played with the country western band, Melody Masters. He loved to sing gospel music. He retired from Texas Department of Transportation after 36 years and was an active member of Highland Methodist church. He loved his church family and served his Lord.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Thurmand Dee Phillips and Mabel Lisenbee Phillips.
Survivors include his wife Beverly Phillips of Odessa; his daughter, Jeanna Lambert and her husband Jack of Odessa, daughter, Sharla Johnson and her husband Charlie of Earth, Texas; son, Travis Phillips of Odessa, son, Bo Phillips and his wife Bonnie of Odessa; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Highland Mehtodist Church with Rev. Donita Lea officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ben Lambert, Layden and Devin Johnson, Brody and Stephen Phillips, Ronny and Chris McIntire, Tommy Robinson, and Colby Davis.
