Derek Ford

Derek Wayne Ford, 24, passed from this Earth way too soon on February 7, 2014 in Abilene, TX and is now running through the streets of heaven into his Pas arms.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Derek was born July 8, 1989 in Odessa, TX to Sheri Robertson. He attended school at Permian High School. He was currently living at Abilene State Supported Living Center. Derek participated in Special Olympics and loved going to Chapel every Sunday. He would cruise around campus in his wheelchair until staff made him come in. His greatest goal in life was to get an RV or motorhome. He loved riding around looking at them, and he could tell you where every one of them in the neighborhood were. He also had a fondness for sirens, ambulances, and fire trucks. He loved cop shows and would yell for you to get on the ground. Once you met Derek, he had your heart. He never forgot a thing and his smile was always contagious.

Derek is preceded in death by his Pa, Talbert Robbins.

Derek Ford is survived by his parents, Alan and Sheri Robertson, brother Brandon Ford and his daughter London Ford, his sister Shelby Robertson, his Ma Sharon Robbins, uncles Kenny Davis and wife Darla, Steve Davis, and Mike Davis and wife Roxanne, aunts Donna Collins and husband Jerry, Debbie Boyles and husband Tom, Sharon Duggan and husband Carl, Vivian Paton and husband Sam, and Kathy Horton and husband Lynn. Derek also leaves behind numerous cousins, great aunts and great uncles.

The family of Derek Ford wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the Staff at Abilene State Supported Living Center who took Derek under their Angel Wings and made him their own.
