Dewayne "Bulldog" Kennedy Robertson went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2021.
Funeral Services will be officiated by Clydel Chapman, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Northside Baptist Church in Odessa at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Dewayne was born on March 28, 1926 to Walter & Delores Robertson of Goldthwaite, Texas. After he graduated from Goldthwaite High School, he enlisted in the US Army. He proudly served and was discharged as a World War II vet in 1945 earning the Victory Medal, the Asiatic - Pacific Theater Service Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal - Japan.
He fell in love and married Rozetta Garner on January 5, 1950 in Big Spring, Texas. Together they had two daughters, Leeann, and Sherri. He worked for many years driving Mack trucks for Humble Oil and Steer Tank Line. Rozetta passed away on June 19, 1973.
He got a second chance at love when he married Rita on March 8, 1974 and gained another kid, Patricia. He continued to drive Mack trucks for Permian Mack & Bruckner's Mack until he retired. He continued to stay busy serving as a school crossing guard at Sam Houston Elementary and being active in Northside Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Delores Robertson; his sister and brother-in-law, Snookia (Walter Lorraine) and Glenn Johnson; his brother and sister-in-law, Hack (Haskell Lee) and Mable Robertson; first wife, Rozetta Garner Robertson; and daughter, Leeann Robertson Shackelford.
Left to cherish his memory are wife, Rita Robertson; daughters, Sherri Bennett and Patricia Cotton; granddaughters, Tavia and husband Chad Johnson, Shylla and husband Deryn Turner, and Doni Bennett and husband Devin Gordon; great grandchildren, Stephanie and husband David McCoy, Tracie Johnson, Sam Kennedy Tuner, Tomie Johnson, Bradlie Johnson, Kacilyn Gordon, and Devin WD Gordon, Jr.; and great great granddaughter, Katelyn McCoy.
Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Permian Basin and Northside Baptist Church. The family of Dewayne would like to thank the staff at Buena Vista Nursing Home, Pete Stull, and everyone at Northside Baptist for their love, prayers, caring and support.
