Dewey Lewis Iii

Dewey Lewis III, 74, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his home in Odessa, TX.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Dewey Lewis III was born in Detroit, MI to Dewey Lewis, Jr. and Lillian Ogdie on February 22, 1942. Growing up in Kentucky, Dewey later returned to his birth state of Michigan to work on the assembly lines in the booming automobile industry of the times. From there he ventured out to travel the countryside as a commercial truck driver. He would later own and run a small dairy shop in Alpine, TX named Triple D's Dairy Delights. Finally, in the mid 80's Dewey settled into the Odessa/Midland area doing private contract work and building houses for others. He spent his sunset years strengthening his relationship with God and built a private chapel in honor of the Lord, where he would pray every day, religiously, at 3 o'clock in reverence of the Holy Trinity. Many festive Masses had also been served here.

Dewey is preceded in death by his mother, father, Herminia Lewis and Minda Altland.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Liberty Lewis, and his children Paul and Joshua Lewis.

Just as every snowflake that falls from the sky is unique, so too was Dewey Lewis III. He would find solace in knowing that on his last night on Earth, the heavens had sent down a rare West Texas snow to blanket him with gentle peace. And as the sun came out the next morning to melt away the snow, Dewey was also taken up to his heavenly home.
