D'Lois Bryson

D'Lois McGinty Bryson, 76, of Odessa, TX, died on Monday, January 30, 2017 in Odessa.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Yoakum County Cemetery in Plains, TX.

D'Lois was born September 30, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas to Alma Lynn Been and Rufus Norfleet "Rusty" McGinty. Reared on the Mc Ginty Ranch outside of Plains and educated in Plains. She earned a certificate in Floral Design in Houston and opened her very own flower shop in Plains in 1961. She married the only man she ever loved, Jay Earl Bryson Jr. in Plains, Texas on August 29, 1964. The Bryson's moved to Lubbock for a short time before coming to Odessa in 1967. D'Lois worked in the home as a homemaker for many years while raising two children, but she was also a Florist at many local flower shops. She was a member of The Modern Gardeners in Odessa for many years and won many awards for her designs. D'Lois was a volunteer in public school at The Academy of Ector for 30 years where she brought her own brand of love and education to many generations of children. She was a member of the Eastern Star and The Social Order of the Beauceant and active with her husband to help her Masonic brothers and sisters as well as the local Lions Club anyway she could.

D'Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Jay Earl Bryson, Jr., her parents, Alma Lynn and Rusty McGinty.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana Bryson; son, Jon Bryson both of Odessa, granddaughter, Autumn Emily Edwards- Bryson of Florida, sister, D'Lynn McGinty of San Antonio, sister in law, Dana Marie Kerby and husband Jim of Grandbury, TX, niece, Janel Holt and husband Doug of Godley, TX, as well as those friends she considered family.
