Dometra "Dee" Jean Hester, age 84, of Odessa, TX, passed away on November 29, 2017 in Midland, TX.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, December 4, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Bartlett officiating.
Dee was born August 16, 1933 to Clarence Arlen Mullins and Mini Ola (Davis) Mullins in Haskell, TX. She was raised on a farm south of Lubbock, TX. The community of Slide, TX. Dee graduated from Lubbock Cooper High. She enjoyed playing basketball in high school. Dee married Harold Houston Hester on March 9, 1951. They remained married until his death in 1998. She was raised in the family of First Baptist Church, where she was baptized as a pre-teen. Dee was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Auxiliary 2914, Odessa, TX and the American Legion Auxiliary, Earl S. Bailey Post 430.
Dee is survived by her son, Gary Houston Hester and wife, Betty of Odessa, TX; sister Shirlene Scoggins of Midland, TX; brother, Dale Mullins of Hereford, TX; three grandchildren, Bryant Hester of Nederland, TX, Faith Castaneda of Jarrel, TX, Elysha Jessee of Vacaville, CA; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; brother in-law, Jerry Hester of the Woodlands, TX; sister in-law, Patsy Thomason of Oklahoma.
Dee loved her family and friends. She enjoyed being around people and she danced every time she could. She is now dancing with the angels in Heaven.
