Don Ray Hooper of Odessa and Goliad, TX went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2015 in Victoria, TX.
Don was born in Noodle, TX to Mildred Earl and Samuel Landrum Hooper on October 8, 1929. Don left his family farm in Noodle at a very young age to seek his fortune in the oilfield. He was so young that he had to lie about his age to be able to work, and work he did until he went into the Army and served in the Korean War. After returning home he said that he made a promise if God would let him come home that he would be the best husband and father a man could be, and he was a man of his word. His dream was to own his own business and he gained knowledge from every adventure he dabbled in, but his biggest dream was to have his children surrounding him. From Basin Air Drilling to Circle H Rodeo Producer to Hooper Trucking Company, Don's dreams came true and he made many lifelong friends along the way. He even achieved a little piece of Heaven here on Earth… his ranch in Goliad, TX. The Copper Spur was where he lived out his last years making a piece of paradise while making many lasting memories with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 49 years, Betty Mae Hooper, infant daughter, Delta Star, precious daughter in law, Linda Sue Hooper, brothers, Willard, Boyce, Gerald and S.L.(Jr.), sisters, Justine, Opal Lee, and Delois.
