Donald Sidney Belt

Donald Sidney Belt, age 90, passed from this life on December 28, 2024, in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Donald Sidney Belt was born in Sweetwater, TX, to Alvin E. Belt and Helen M. Belt on July 30, 1934. He graduated from Seminole High School. Soon after graduating, he joined the United States Marines, where he served with the 1st Amphibious Recon Company until his discharge in 1956. He was fond of, and proud of, his time of service, during which he made many new friends and lasting memories. After his discharge, he married Marvis LaNell Booth on September 26, 1957, in Lamesa, Texas. From this marriage, two children were born: Pamela Sue and Colin Wade Belt. Donald worked for Planters Gin for several years before the family moved to Odessa, TX, where he began working with his uncle, Bud Young, in a construction business called Bld-Con. Later, he worked as an Administrator of Construction and a Land Development Consultant with Jack Mousa. Together, they had a successful career in construction for 30 years.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin E. Belt and Helen M. Belt; and his daughter, Pamela Belt Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marvis Belt; his son, Colin Belt and wife Donna; his sister, Pat Palmer and husband James. He is also survived by grandchildren, Whitney Garza and husband Jesus, Chris Onstot, Casey Belt, Ashley McPherson and husband Brandon, Joie Seaton and husband Brandon, Sarah Richardson, Merci Rodriguez, and EmaLee Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Noabella, Brody, Brantley, and Calan. He is also survived by his special friends and business associates Jack and Barbie Mousa.

Pallbearers will be Chris Onstot, Casey Belt, Brody Belt, Jesus Garza, Brandon McPherson, Brandon Seaton, Josh Palmer, and Nick Simpson.
