Donald Bowen

Donald Ralph Bowen of Odessa, TX, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 in Odessa, TX.

Donald Ralph Bowen, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, was born April 25, 1922 in Greenfield, Iowa to Oren Chesley Bowen and Lula Maude (Shanklin) Bowen.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster, on Sept. 28, 1984. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 - 1946. Don was a true patriot and loved his country. His main occupation was carpentry; he was both a finish carpenter and a home builder. He was an active member and faithful attendee of Sherwood Church of Christ in Odessa, Texas. His main hobby was bowling; he was an avid league bowler through the age of 92.

Donald is survived by his sons, Jeff Bowen and Jessey Bowen, of Odessa & Midland, Texas and one daughter, Nancy Vinyard Nowak of Washington, Michigan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Allene Bowen and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
