Donald Clifton Palmer October 1, 1932 - May 13, 2021
Don left this life on Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2021 at his home in Midland Texas. He had said that he thought it was time to go home, and so he did.
Don was passionate about life, his family and his spiritual commitment. He lived life to the fullest, always happy and positive. Don married Patricia Dunfee on June 6, 1954 and eight days later he began his service in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Tokyo, Japan and returned from service in 1956. Soon after his return, Don and Pat started their family. In 1958, their daughter Kim was born and in 1963, Mark was born. Don always loved spending time with his family. Family vacations always centered around lakes and rivers, boating, and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Don earned his master’s degree from Drake University in 1964 and served as the Director of Guidance and Counseling at Indian Hills Community college for many years.
In June of 1974, Don moved his family to Odessa, TX in response to a call to the ministry. He served as the pastor of Life Unlimited Christian Center from 1975 to 2020. He always came home from a day of work positive,smiling and whistling. He was grateful and kind in every aspect of his life.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Wayne and Gerald.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat Palmer, his daughter Kimberly Jones and husband Rick, his son Mark and his wife Susan and his sister Lorene Perkins (Ron). He also leaves behind five grandsons Casey Jones (Tori), Clayton Jones (Whitney) Christopher Jones (Anna), Preston and Sam Palmer, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Life Unlimited Church with Pastor Rick Jones officiating.
Flowers may be sent to Sunset Memorial Gardens or donations in honor of Don may be sent to hospice of Midland.
