Donald Paul Reaves, age 93, passed away Friday, September 16th, 2022, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 20th at 6:00 PM, at St. John’s Episcopal Church (401 West County Road) with the Reverend Ricardo Lopez officiating. Following the service, there will be family visitation and refreshments in the St. John’s parish hall. Arrangements made by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Don was born February 7th, 1929, in Smackover, Arkansas to Dowle and Earline Reaves. He graduated from Odessa High School, Odessa College, and attended Texas Tech University. He was a graduate of the FBI Academy. He married Lolieta Smith September 17th, 1966. His career included being Chief Deputy in the Ector County Sheriff Department, a Polygraph examiner & private detective, he later retired as a criminal investigator for the District Attorney’s office. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War during 1950-1952.
After retiring, he volunteered 6 days a week at St. John’s Episcopal Church as an usher, Lay Eucharist Minister, school board member and vestry member. He was the last living member of the Knights of the Round Table coffee group. His favorite things included: watching his granddaughter, Reagan, play sports, going to the Permian Basin Hamburger Company, and spending time with his family.
Don is preceded in death by his beloved wife Lolieta, parents, and brother.
Don is survived by his daughter, D’on Paquette; son, Marlin Reaves, and wife Tobye; and granddaughter, Reagan Paquette, all of Odessa, TX; granddaughters, Kamri Walker, and husband Kye, and Katilyn Butler; as well as four great grandchildren, all of Andrews, TX.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Kimberly and Russell Meyers, and Dwaine Cox, for their continued friendship throughout the years. We would also like to thank his Visiting Angel, Hilda, for helping him be comfortable at home the last two years.
