Donald Roys

Donald Ray Roys, Sr. of Odessa, Tx passed away on February 2, 2020 at 3:30 PM.

Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home located at 6801 E. Business 20 Hwy, Odessa, TX, 79762 on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lyndell Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Don Roys, Sr. was born in Tye, Texas on February 9, 1938 to Henry and Elva Roys. He attended Odessa High School from 1955 until 1957. He joined the US Navy in 1958 and served until 1961 on the USS Conway and the USS McClelland. He married Mary Alice Kirkland in 1971.  He worked in an auto parts store for several years before working for Walker Battery and Electric, and D&D Auto as an automotive electrician. He built a career in rebuilding alternators and starters for Ignition Service & Supply and several other businesses in Odessa, TX and Victoria, TX.  He then became a part’s runner for Harlow and Sammons from 2014 to 2018 when he retired.

Don R. Roys, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elva Roys and his son James Dean Roys, and Grandson Douglas Roys.

He is survived by his wife Mary Roys; his children, Don Ray Roys Jr., Jo Ann Harlow, Nora Lynn Roys, Ricky D Roys, Rebecca J. Kupferer and her husband Keith A. Kupferer Sr.; his grandchildren, Carrie Donita Harper, Don Roys III, Monica Aguilar, Shelby Harlow, Chris Harlow, Toby Daniells, Brandy Posey, Toni Nichole Pogue, Chelsea Danielle Pogue, and Kodye Marie Pogue, and 14  great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Ricky Roys, Chris Harlow, Keith Kupferer, Ruben Aguilar, Mickey Aguilar, and Roman Aguilar.
