Donald Gunny Leon Wadley was born December 12, 1936 in Odessa, Texas. He spent his life as a Marine who served his country for 23 years, attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, and serving 2 tours as a Drill Instructor at San Diego, California. Music was one of his great loves, and he was a musician who loved to play the guitar and sing. Don was devoted to Chile cook-offs, where he would pick and sing with his friends while cooking his chili. He won the Showmanship Division at the Terlingua International Chili Championship and other chili cook-offs all over the state.

He was a good husband who loved his wife Martha. Father of Michael Wadley and Donna Everett, Granddad to Michael Wadley, Jr., Jessica Wadley, Jennifer Everett, Jessie Everett, Adrianna Everett, with five great grandchildren, nephew Donald Dale Wadley and four nieces. He was a member of the Odessa American Legion, where he had numerous friends.

He passed away on the 26th of October 2008. Military graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, on East Business 20, in Odessa, Texas, friends are welcome.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
