Donnie Mae Rapier, 90, of Odessa, Texas, passed away March 30,2023 in Odessa.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell of Bethany Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Donnie Mae Rapier was born in Anson, Texas to Jack and Ila McCright on April,5,1932. She was married to Joyce Martin and had 3 children. Donnie married Jim Rapier on March 31,1972 and added 2 daughters to the family. 5 teenagers added excitement, trials and joy to their marriage. She graduated from Newman High School in 1949 in Sweetwater, TX and she then attended secretarial school and worked as a secretary for banks and Kelly girl temporary service. Donnie volunteered as a candy stripe girl at Medical Center hospital.
Donnie is preceded in death by both parents, Jack and Ila McCright; husband, Jim Rapier; and daughter, Sherry Ridley.
Donnie is survived by son and daughter in law, Keith and Claudia Martin; daughter, Cyndy Dodd, daughter and son in law, Becky and Geff Myers, daughter and son in law, Patrice and Mike Hughes; brother, Joe McCright; niece, Melinda Jantzen; grandchildren, Dax Barnhart, Chad Barnhart, Bobby Martin, Lauren Shoffner, Tim Sichmeller, Nathan Myers, Melissa Lopez, Sarah Barr, Michael Hughes, Luke Hughes, John Keith Martin, Ashton Roberts; great grandchildren, Aaron Barnhart, Hannah Barnhart,Sierra Myers, Summit Myers, River Sichmeller, Ben Sichmeller, Bailey Martin, Addison Martin, Adrian Lopez,Dylan Lopez, Scarlet Lopez, Ridley Shoffner, Cooper Shoffner; and great- great grandchild, Nixin Barnhart.
Memorials may be given to a local charity of your choice.
Though Donnie’s soul now resides in the presence of our Heavenly Father, she will be fondly remembered as Grandma Donnie who gave each grandchild one of their first baths and always a pan of Scotch a Roos waiting to be eaten.
