Dora Cole

Dora Lee Cole passed away on January 2, 2019 at Manor Park in Midland, Texas. Dora was born in Midlothian, Texas July 10, 1931. She was the daughter of Alma and Will McDonald.
Dora graduated from high school in Lockney, Texas in 1948, and received her Registered Nursing degree from Harris Hospital School of Nursing.
She was married to Dr. Louis James Cole on May 19, 1951 in Ardmore Oklahoma. She moved to Odessa in 1978. She worked 42 years side by side with her husband in his general practice of medicine in Sherwood Medical Center until their retirement in 1999.
Dora's talents were many. Airplane pilot, avid rock hunter, and co-founder of the Texas Faceters Guild. She was an accomplished seamstress, painter and jewelry maker. She enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing and was active in the Ballroom Dance Society and local dance clubs.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. Louis James Cole, her son Louis James Cole II, her mother and father Will and Alma McDonald, her brothers Charles and Robert McDonald, and her sister Katherine Clayton.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Craig of Odessa, TX; grandchildren Shauna White and Husband Blake of Monroeville, AL, Louis James (Jimmy) Cole III and wife Ashley of Kyle, TX, Krystal Boykin and husband Mitch of Midland, TX; great-grandchildren Lane, Avery, Cayliegh and Maddison White, Tucker Boykin and Jaylin Cole; daughter-in-law Jeanie Phillips and husband James of Austin, TX.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating.
