Doris Hood

Doris D. Hood, 91, of Odessa, Tx, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, after spending a happy weekend at the Hood family reunion.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2022, Spirit and Truth Church, at 1301 E. University.

Doris was born in Owens, Tx. (Not far from Brownwood) to H.M. and Delora White on August 14, 1931. She attended school in Early, Tx, where she was the Homecoming Queen her Jr. year. She also loved to play basketball. She married Ellis Dean Hood on February 2, 1950. She balanced career and family, working as a PBX operator in oilfield related companies. She remembered fondly the friends she made there. She was an amazing homemaker keeping a clean home and cooking. Her chocolate pies were requested at almost every gathering.

Those who have been waiting for her in heaven are her parents; husband, Ellis Dean; brothers, Buddy and Tommy; and sister, Melba.

Those left to carry on her legacy of love are her children, Sherry, and Larry and wife Linda; grandsons, Patrick and wife Tosha, and Michael; and stepchildren, Hayley and husband Stetson, Patrick and wife Hayli; step-great-grandsons, Mason, Hudson, Ben and Brooks.

She remembered and talked often of her cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Also, her puppy dogs. The family wants to express their appreciation and gratitude to family and friends and the outpouring of prayers, support and encouragement during her time in the hospital and at her passing. She will miss her Dairy Queen friends.
