Dorothy Stagner Glass passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010. She was born on October 13, 1919 in Luling, Texas to Quill and Nena Stagner. Dorothy married Weldon Glass on November 9, 1941 in Luling, Texas.
Dorothy worked for Humble Oil and Refining Co. in administration for the South Texas and West Texas District. Weldon and Dorothy came to the Permian Basin in 1950 and helped open the Sprayberry District. While working for Exxon, she served as the Executive Secretary for the Superintendent. They followed the oil boom in West Texas moving from Midland, Stanton, Denver City, Monahans, and Odessa. After retirement in 1978, Dorothy enjoyed spoiling her family with her cooking skills and sewing talents. Dorothy and Weldon were charter members of Mission Dorado Baptist Church.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Dr. Bradford Glass and his wife Lauretta of Midland, Texas and three grandchildren, Matthew Glass of Midland, Texas Debby Glass of Midland, Texas and Becky Glass of Abilene, Texas along with extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Weldon, a son John and a brother Q.P. Stagner.
A visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Mission Dorado Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas at 4142 Faudree Road. Pastor Bob Bratcher will be officiating, interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Dorothy Glass be made to the mission Dorado Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.
