Dorothy Louise Powell, 94, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in Odessa.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Lynn Money, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born on July 21, 1922 in Eustace, TX to Walter Chestley Pickle and Ollie Leona Honeycutt. On March 2, 1940, Dorothy married Samuel Powell in Fort Worth, TX. Dorothy worked for several years at Montgomery Wards in Fort Worth then moved to Canyon where they raised their children until the family moved to Odessa in 1957 and she worked at Sears. Her husband then opened a Construction/Roofing company, Perma Coating Roofing, where she worked as well.
Dorothy and her family enjoyed both their ranch and their lake house. They spent many love-filled hours there. Dorothy lost her husband in 2007.
Dorothy is survived by her son Mike Powell and his wife Sandra Lynnette of Plano, TX; her daughter Cynthia Powell Jennings, of Odessa, TX.; her sister Helen Noble of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Kristin Looney of Odessa, TX, Brandon Terry and his wife Jamie of Midland, TX, TJ Powell of Plano, TX, Laurie Allan of Austin, TX and Lyndie Lytle of Little Elm, TX; great-grandchildren Kaylee Looney and McKenna Terry.
