Doug McDonald, Sr. 74, of Odessa passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Doug was born on December 27, 1942 to Reverend D. L. McDonald and Willie Barnes in Sweetwater, TX where he was raised until his parents moved to Penwell, TX in the late 50's. Doug, later met and married the love of his life, Sandra Danner. Doug and Sandra were married for 54 years.

Doug was a welder by trade with well over 50 years dedicated to West Texas. His pride and joy was raising his family and he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was well known for his mouthwatering BBQ's. Doug was a man that truly loved his whole family and looked forward to his annual trips to Grand Saline, TX to be with family. He was a man that never met a stranger and will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Doug is preceded in death by both his parents.

Doug is survived by his wife Sandra McDonald of Odessa; son Doug McDonald, Jr. and his wife Judy of Springtown, TX; daughter Cassie Herring and her husband Ricky of Brownwood, TX; brothers Bill McDonald and his wife Debbie, David McDonald and his wife Monica both of Grand Saline, TX; sister Jodie Burton and her husband Bill of Waller, TX; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Chapel and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
