William Douglas Sharrock, age 80, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 14, 2022, with Landon Coleman, Lead Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating.
Doug was born in Cross Plains, Texas, to Bonnie Dorsey and Everett Sharrock on December 5, 1941. He grew up in Cross Plains and Odessa, Texas. He was a senior in the first classes at Permian High School and attended courses at Odessa College. He married Sharlot Bell on July 15, 1961, in Odessa, Texas. They raised their daughter, Shawna, in Odessa and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Doug was a vehicle accessories salesman and then a plant operator for Shell Oil’s Odessa Refinery until his retirement. Over the years, Doug enjoyed working on his cars and trucks, playing golf, working in his yard, coaching his daughter’s softball team, and playing softball too, and running agility with his dog.
Doug is survived by his wife, Sharlot Sharrock of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Shawna Nelle, and her husband, Ross of Flower Mound, Texas; his brother-in-law, Ringling Bell, and his wife, Rayverne of Flint, Texas; nieces Amanda Bell and Misty Hunley; and wonderful friends.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Lester Dorsey, his mother-in-law, Dorothy Bell, his father-in-law, Jack Bell, and his sister-in-law, Sharon Bradley.
The family would like to thank the caregivers from Heart-to-Heart Hospice and Buena Vida Nursing and Rehabilitation for caring for Doug.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or rescue organization of your choice.
