Ernie Dwayne High, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX at the age of 53.
A Visitation honoring Dwayne will be held 4 to 6 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with a Memorial Tribute of his life at 5pm.
Dwayne was born in Monahans, TX. on Sunday, February 9, 1964 to Alva Jeanette (Titsworth) High and the late Daniel Eugene High (Retired from the Odessa Police Department). Dwayne graduated from Permian High School, Class of 1983. He married the love of his life, Leah Michelle Gibson, on October 4, 1997 in Odessa, TX. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Ryan Layne High and Myka Renee High, who he was so proud of and loved to the fullest. He was a hard worker, he worked in the Transport Industry for many years in the freight business and in the oilfield. Dwayne was a very outgoing person, who had a fun loving personality, always making people laugh. He never met a stranger but met a friend everywhere he went. His family always came first to him. He would light up talking about his children. He loved visiting and talking to everyone. Such a loyal person. So many have wonderful stories of him. Never a dull moment when Dwayne was around. He could make everyone smile and laugh with his personality. He was always the life of the party. It was an honor to be loved by such an exciting, loving, and wonderful man.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his father Daniel High and his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Titsworth and Mr. & Mrs. Homer High.
Dwayne is survived by his wife Leah High, son Ryan High, daughter Myka High, mother Jeanette High of Odessa,TX, brother Daniel High Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Odessa,TX, sister Kelley Alvarado and her husband Leon of Harker Heights, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to all the staff in ICU at Medical Center Hospital and to all those who have prayed for and thought of Dwayne's family and friends during this difficult time.
