Ed (Eddie) Murrell Boren, 88, went to be with the Lord in Odessa, TX on April 8, 2017.
Eddie was born in Greenville, TX on June 22, 1928 to Eddie Lee and Ada Mae Sanders Boren. He served in both WWII and the Korean War with the Army Air Force. Eddie worked in law enforcement in Stamford, TX. After moving to Odessa he worked and retired from the Texas Highway Dept. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Odessa and was an active musician for many years. In the 60's, 70's, and 80's he won fiddle contests in Texas as well as giving music lessons in both fiddle and guitar.
Eddie was a Commander in the DAV, serving 10 years. He enjoyed meteorite hunting and found several impressive specimens.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brother and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Boren and his step-children Jim Barfield, Joni and Gil VanDeventer of Odessa; his nephew and nieces Reggie and Janie Reston of Lubbock, Christene and Sam Davis of Knox City, Michael Boren of Knox City and his namesake Glenda Murrell Tabor of Pocola, OK; 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Fellowship and Home Hospice.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, TX with Brother Ted Miller officiating.
