On June 28, 2013, a true Proverbs Woman, Edith Coffman, entered Heavens Gate at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 28 days.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Northeast Church of Christ on Billy Hext Road in Odessa, Texas.
Edith was born on New Years Day in 1917 to Milton and Polly Smith of Kiblah, Arkansas. She grew up in the ArkansasLouisiana area with her two older brothers and older sister. Edith married young and soon found herself with three young children to raise on her own through the end of the Great Depression and World War II. After that she met and married the love of her life, T.G. Glenn Coffman and moved to Odessa with her three children, Ronald, Rhuine and Gary. Soon, son Mike was born to complete this family.
Edith, soon became Mamaw, always worked hard from Basin Music Center to many, many years at Cloth World until her retirement. Left a widow in 1982, she continued to live independently, moving to Parks Retirement Apartments less than two years ago. Mamaw faithfully attended Eisenhower Church of Christ and is currently a member of Gardendale Church of Christ. She loved cooking, sewing and playing 42 with her bunch. But most of all she loved her children, Ronald Crain and wife Pat, Rhuine McDonald and husband Neil, Gary Crain and wife Dianna, and Mike Coffman. Her legacy and joy include her eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandson, Tanner.
Her children arise and call her blessedMany women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Give her the reward that she earned, and let her words bring praise at the City Gate. Proverbs 31
