Edward Denton

Edward Duan Buck Denton, age 89, passed away Thursday July 21, 2011 in Odessa.

He was born April 24, 1922 in Beckham County, Oklahoma to W.B. Denton and Virgie Sweatt Denton.

Visitation with the family will be 57 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 25, 2011 at St. Lukes United Methodist Church with Rev. Brad Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Rule, Texas in the family plot, at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011.

He graduated from Highway High School in Oklahoma, where he excelled in basketball. He joined the United States Air Force October 26, 1942. He was designated as a Airplane Maintenance Technician and was a member of the Office of Strategic Services the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency.

He married Velma Polly Leon in Spur, Texas. They celebrated their 59th anniversary last October. Buck sold heavy equipment for most of his adult life and owned a restaurant in Odessa until he retired in 1983. After retiring Buck and Polly traveled extensively in and out of the United States.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church wherever he lived, serving in various boards. He was 32nd Degree Mason. Buck and Polly were famous for their hospitality. Buck was a loving husband, honored father and loyal friend.

Buck is survived by two sons and their wives Chris Edward Denton and Jennie of Nice, France and Mark Cloud Denton and Brenda of Odessa, Texas grandchildren Claire Patricia DentonIngersoll and husband Jarred of Denver, Colorado, Mark Austin Denton and wife Isela of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Brock Edward Denton of Midland, Ty Cloud Denton and wife Janine of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mason Williams Denton of St Louis Missouri, Kirsten Danielle Denton of Odessa, Texas and great grandchild Adalyn Jade Denton also of Odessa.

Buck is preceded in death by the love of his life wife Polly, brothers and sisters Red, Bill, Bart, Harmon, Jack, Jess, Virgie, Bessie, Geraldine and Angie.

I lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
