Eldon Clarence Halbrook, age 90, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 in Odessa.
He was born October 30, 1919 in Coleman, Texas to Clarence Jerome Halbrook and Rowena Cynthia Turner Halbrook. He owned HH Hardware until retirement in 1982. He moved with his family to Odessa in 1926 from Coleman, Texas and graduated from Odessa high School in 1938. He married his first wife Hollis Alkire in 1941, she passed away in 1983. He was a WWII veteran and member of Temple Baptist Church. He married Mickie Ivy Herring on October 26, 1990 and had many happy years of travel. They were members of the Ballroom Dance and the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Hollis, his parents, his son Michael, sister, Bea Forester, brother H. J., stepdaughter, Yvonne Ivy and stepsons, Kenneth Ray Ivy and Jerry Dee Ivy.
Survivors include his wife, Mickie daughter, Cindy Harrison grand children, Michelle, Shannon, Lauren and Ryan Harrison all of Odessa brother, Lloyd and wife Edith of Dallas and his faithful dog Kacy.
Visitation with the family will be from 57 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Emmet Bernard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers Shelley Traywick, Virginia Cole and Hospice House.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Hospice House or a charity of choice.
