Elias J. Marin, 79 of Odessa, Texas, better known as “Popo”, passed peacefully at home to his eternal resting place on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
Elias was born in Snyder, Texas, to Jose and Maximina Marin on February 20, 1944. He graduated from Monahans High School and later married Anita DelaO on June 13, 1964. Together, they had three children who they raised in a loving home and attended church regularly. Church was a very important part of his life, and sharing the word of God with every person he encountered was what he enjoyed the most. Elias was a deacon for over 30 years at Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem and preached many times there. He worked for the Highway Department in the early 70s, transitioned to Gulf Oil in 1975 to work in the pipeline gang and he retired as a Measurement Technician with Chevron in 1999. In retirement, he worked at Mission Odessa, further serving the community.
Elias “Popo” was very loved and respected by his children, grandchildren and was blessed to meet his great-grandchildren. Popo would attend every event his grandchildren were involved in, from school to sports events. There was never a time he didn’t make himself available to help his family.
Elias is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita Marin; both his parents; brothers, Vicente, Isabel, Moises, Obed and David Marin; sisters, Ester Orosco and Gloria Rodriguez.
