Elizabeth Joiner

Elizabeth Josephine Joiner, age 84, of Odessa, left this life on January 17, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones.

Elizabeth was born on July 27, 1930 in Paris, Arkansas to Alberta Blevins Spieler and John Matthew Spieler. She attended St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith Arkansas and completed her education at Brawley Union High School in 1948.

She met the love of her life, Billy Frank Joiner, in Brawley California and they married November 4, 1948. They moved their family to Odessa, Texas in 1978 where Elizabeth was a homemaker, well known for her cakes, and active in St. Mary's and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Churches.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and John Spieler, brother-in-law BL Reynolds, daughter, Linda Joiner Bell and grandchildren, Sherry Ann Marie Michaelson and Michael Alan Michaelson.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Billy Frank Joiner and six children, Christine Joiner Michaelson of Riverside, California, Robert Joiner (Linda) of Argyle, Texas, Mike Joiner (DiAnna) of Crane/Menard, Texas, Alan Joiner (Denise Howell) of Midland, Texas, Brenda Joiner Smith (Don), Tommy Joiner (Sara Stacks) of Odessa, Texas. Brothers John Spieler (Sheryll Ann) of Oceanside, California, Jo Bert Spieler (Pat) of Brawley, California and sister Joan Reynolds of Kerrville, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Elosia Vasquez for her years of loving care and companionship.

A Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa, Monsignor Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Michael Joiner, Robert Joiner, Alan Joiner, Tommy Joiner, Brandon Wilson, Stetson Joiner and Travis Landry Fisher.
