Betty Neidert
Elizabeth Duan Neidert, 89, of Odessa, passed away February 21, 2010 at Hospice House. She was born April 21, 1920 in Joplin, Missouri to Ame and Sarah Duan.
Betty married George Bray Neidert in Joplin, Missouri in 1940. They moved to Odessa with their two small sons in 1948. She worked for Oil Well Supply as a secretary from 19551970. In 1970, she began her new career as a bookkeeper and secretary for the ECISD Special Education Department, where she worked until 1981. After leaving ECISD, she worked for her son Bob at Chesapeake Interiors until her retirement.
Bettys focus in life was her family and the Lord. She was a wonderful mother to her two boys, Bill and Bob. She was an inspiration to her daughterinlaw, Linda. Bettys faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior was always at the forefront of any activity. As a member of Pray Texas in the early 1990s, Betty dedicated years to prayer groups focused on praying for our city, state, nation, and our leaders. She was always ready to pray for anyone who needed her intercession or counseling. Betty laughed easily and looked for the good in everyone and everything around her.
Betty loved her two Pastors, Don Caywood at Odessa Christian Faith Center, and Don Palmer at Life Unlimited. They taught her beautiful truths about the Lord and His love, which gave her life the peace and meaning she sought.
Betty also loved her four grandchildren. Lynette and Robert spent wonderful hours in her home throughout their childhood years. She spent time with them everyday during their elementary years. They were blessed to have such a loving influence in their lives. Although she lived far away from Susann and Christopher in Dallas, she loved them just as much. She loved the pictures and letters that kept them close to her heart.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband George. She is survived by her sons Bill Neidert and wife Barbara of Allen, Texas, and Bob Neidert and wife Linda of Odessa, Texas grandchildren Susann Mentesana and husband James of Parker, Texas, Christopher Neidert of Allen, Texas, Lynette Darby and husband Brett of Leawood, Kansas, Robert Neidert and wife Jessica of Lubbock, Texas and six greatgrandchildren.
The family would like express special thanks to the Home Hospice nurses and the Hospice House for their kindness and care during these final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center of any charity of choice.
