Emmitt O. Flowers went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 17, 2011. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 28, 1930.
After graduating from Albuquerque High School, he entered the Navy and served during the Korean conflict on ship and on Guam as a radio technician and a medic. He worked for Commercial Radio and Basin Communications before retiring from Chevron in 1999.
He married Kathy Wright Deason on March 25, 1978 in Odessa, TX and was a faithful member of Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord for 34 years. He served the church in many capacities some of which included delivering communion to disabled members, operating audio equipment, and repairing electronic devices. He was also a member of the Parkinsons Support Group for the last 6 years, and his hobbies included attending OC taking advanced math courses, anything having to do with computers, and had a profound love of dogs.
His final few months were spent at Catchings Private Home where Glory, Zulema, and Diana gave him excellent and loving care and for that his family is forever grateful.
He is preceded in death by his parents John James and Ethel Mauvey Flowers, his sisters Joy Bowen and Karene Krauel.
Survivors include wife, Kathy daughters Angi Webb and husband Chad, Sherry Pinnick and husband Scott, Bambi Wilson and husband Joe son Emmett and wife Ruth eight grandchildren, Tori, Jonah, April, Brian, Christopher, Meagan, Jeremy, and Eric, and four greatgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord, with the Rev. Michael Mueller officiating
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation.
