Essie Virginia Goddard

Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with her heavenly Father on June 19, 2011.

She was born March 13, 1926 in Vincent, Texas to Lloid and Mamie Billings. She met and married the love of her life Harry Harrison Goddard, Sr. in Odessa, Texas on March 15, 1942. They lived in Odessa until 1977 when they moved to Cross Plains, Texas. She moved back to Odessa in 1997.

She enjoyed being with her friends and family. She loved playing Bingo and fishing and working out doors in her garden and flower beds. All that knew her loved her sense of humor and dancing eyes, that were as blue as the sea. We loved to listen to her sing gospel and old country tunes. She was a terrific cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Harrison Goddard, Sr., mother, Mamie Curry, father Lloid Billings, sister, Mildred Martin, two brothers, E.J. Billings and Carrol Billings, a great grandson, Steven Glenn Black, Jr. and soninlaw, Cecil E. Ozment.

She is survived by four children, Essie Mae Goddard, Nancy Jean Goddard, Clara Kathelene Katie Ozment and Harry Harrison Goddard, Jr. and wife Debbie, all of Odessa, Texas one sister, Mary Zimmerman of California six grandchildren, Denise Brown, Melissa Thompson and husband Mike Figert, all of Odessa, Texas, Jud Burkhalter and wife Jennifer of Linkwood, Maryland, Nancy Charlene Deal of Odessa and Candace Williams of Big Spring, Texas, Michelle Wright of Cedar Park, Texas nine great grandchildren, Scott Black, Allie Black, Sean Black, Landon Figert, Colby Figert, Garrett Figert, Bobby Mansker, Normajean Deal, all of Odessa, and Jonathan Williams of Big Spring, Texas one great great granddaughter, Desaray Deal of Odessa, Texas. She is also survived by her best friend in the world, Mildred Dancer and numerous nieces and nephews and lots of friends and neighbors.

Visitation with the family will be 68 Pm Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Touchstone officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery in Odessa.

Pallbearers will be Scott Black, Sean Black, Mike Figert, Steve Estepp, Bobby Mansker, and Glenn Brown.
