Ethel “Jet” Jewel Parks, 81, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022.
Visitation will be at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with Larry Hood of St. Andrew Cumberland officiating. Burial will follow at sunset memorial Gardens.
Jet was born in San Angelo, Texas, to Tom and Vera McCoy on October 16, 1941. She then moved with her family to Odessa, Tx., where she spent her childhood. She attended Odessa high school. She married Dennis W. Parks on January 9,1981, in Odessa, and the two were married 38 years. She worked as a waitress for several years at Doby’s BBQ and the Branding Iron Steak House. Jet spent the majority of her life in Odessa, at her home for 60 years. She loved her job and her many customers she made through the years mostly oilfield workers of West TX. Her interest included playing pool in and around Odessa in pool leagues where she won several trophies. She also was an avid bowler and played golf in her younger years. She also like to shoot competition pistols. She enjoyed watching football as well and was MOJO fan for life, and a Dallas Cowboy fan as well. She enjoyed playing the slots in Laughlin every year. She also had a love of music of every genre, but mostly country music which she LOVED to dance to every chance she got! She loved to get together with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also liked collecting vinyl records, crystal bells, knick-knacks of all kinds and souvenir spoons from all over the world of the places she had traveled. She loved reading books and watching old movies. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. she was a Baptist by faith and loved the lord. She was a tough woman with a good heart! She will be dearly missed.
Jet is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Dennis W. Parks; mother, Daisy Vera McCoy; father, Tom McCoy; 2 sisters, Francis Blum, and Ruby Fiesler; 3 brothers, JP McCoy, Tommy Joe McCoy, and Marion McCoy.
She is survived by sons, Carl G. Engel and wife Kelly of Odessa, TX, Robbie Parks and wife Taunia of Youngsville La; daughter, Dana Baker of Duncanville, TX; brothers, Jerry McCoy and wife Janie of St jo, TX, Gene McCoy and wife Donna of flint, TX; grandchildren, Brooklin Ansley of Cairo, Ga, Amberly Fort of Thomasvile, Ga, Gavin, jake and Peyton Parks of Youngsville, LA; great grandchildren, Brendan, Rowan, and Sara Grace Ansley of Cairo, Ga, Rhett Marcinowski of Thomasville, Ga, Jaxton Digby of Odessa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terry Bivins, Paul Bivins, Dylan pierce, Mike McBride, Robby Parks, and Justice Brumley.
