Eunice was born in Madill, OK to DM Latham and Susie Cryor on April 15, 1934. She went to school in Oklahoma and Texas. She was raised by Ola Mae and Slater Donald Whittaker from a young age.
Mother loved all of her children and grand and great grandchildren. She loved her church and was always there to lead the singing whenever the doors were open. Mother loved to do Circle the Word puzzle books and would sit for hours working in her "Word Book" as she called them. She collected salt and pepper shakers for years and had well over 500 sets. She also collected stuffed animals of any sort but liked the ones that sang and danced best. She also collected refrigerator magnets that had come from all across the country.
Mother married Don Hamlin when she was quite young in 1951 to 1961. She was a single mother of four children until she married Jimmy Jenkins in 1966 until 2008. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Preceding her in death are parents, DM and Susie Latham, her parents that raised her Ola and Slator Whittaker, three brothers, Frank (Wid) Latham, Vernon Latham, James Latham and two sisters Laura and Margaret as well as her adoptive brother Winfred Whittaker.
She is survived by her children; daughter Rita and husband Ferrall Clay, son Paul Hamlin, daughter Nancy Blaylock, son Eddie Hamlin and son Donald Jenkins. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her adoptive brothers, Richard Whittaker and Donald Whittaker.
The family of Eunice Jenkins wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Deerings Nursing Home and all the staff, nurses and the wonderful aides that took care of our mother for so many years. Also to the nurses and Chaplin, Reverend Chris Hagger at Compass Hospice Care and for being our support system when we needed you the most, as well as David King for your kind words for our mother.
