Another passion of Faynell's was health and healing through natural medicines. For 30 years, she was able to pursue this passion in her career while working at Circle W Health Food Store, and after several years there she became the store manager. During this time, she obtained a degree in naturopathic medicine. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being entwined in the plot of the story.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Mantooth.
Faynell is survived by her husband, James Cooper, children-Jackie Wood, Andy Cooper and wife Doris, Valarie Sanchez, grandchildren-Kelli Worthey, Lucinda Wells, Edith McKinnon, and Balta Sanchez, great grandchildren Tyler Godfrey, Bettye Cooper, Mattlynn and Wesley Draper, Brannt McKinnon and Jonah Worthey.
