Fermin “Chico” Partida Jr., 75, of Odessa Texas, gained his wings on January 25, 2024, in Odessa, while surrounded by his loving family.
The viewing will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, at New Life Church.
Chico was born in El Paso, Texas, to Fermin Partida Sr. and Elvira L. Partida on March 27, 1948. He went to school in El Paso and was drafted into the US Army in 1968. He continued his education while in the Army where he received his GED. Chico was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the United States Army. He received the Army Commendation Medal for his courageous and outstanding actions in the Republic of Vietnam. He also received the Presidential Unit Citation and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. He married his caring wife, Yolanda M. Partida, on July 17, 1973, in El Paso, Texas. They moved to Odessa Texas in 1979 where he worked as a welder at Sivalls. He then worked as an irrigation technician for thirty-five years at the Odessa Country Club, where he then pursued and grew his passion for horticulture, specifically his love for flowers and the greens.
Chico is preceded in death by his mother, Elvira Partida; father, Fermin Partida Sr.; brothers, Ricardo “Ricky” Partida, and David Partida.
Chico is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda Partida; and three daughters, Maria Isabel Sosa, Sandra White, Melissa Marie Arenivas; three brothers, Luis “Louie” Partida, George Partida and Eddie Partida; six sisters, Elvira Partida Paz, Teresa Gonzales, Belinda Gutierrez, Elizabeth Partida, Delia Gutierrez, Corina Rodriguez; seven grandchildren, Christina Emerson, Viviana Lopez, John White Jr., Anthony White, Michael White, Alexandra White, and Ryan Arenivas; and four great-grandchildren, Xzavier Lopez, Xziomara Lopez, Leilah White, and Tida Hana Doro White.
Chico was very proud of his beautiful and amazing children that he raised with Yolanda. He took pride in his family’s accomplishments and continuously expressed his happiness for them. He was deeply and immeasurably loved by his daughters and wife. Chico enjoyed playing golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Family Feud on TV, visiting with his family on vacations, and spending countless hours growing his beautiful garden at home.
Memorials may be given to Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
