Floyd Allen

Floyd Thomas Allen, 81, of Odessa, TX, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX.
Funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with Leo Copeland and Lon Briley officiating.
Graveside service will be on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Veals Creek Cemetery in Breckenridge, TX with Tim Johnson officiating.
Floyd was born in Leander, TX to James and Beulah Allen on July 28, 1932. He was raised in the 1st Christian Childrens Home in Austin, TX from age 2 to 13. He was transferred to the Presbyterian Childrens Home in Itasca, TX where he graduated from Itasca High School in 1950.
Floyd began working for Piccadilly Cafeteria in Austin, TX and later Wichita Falls. In 1960, he transferred to Odessa where he met Inez, his wife of 53 years. Floyd and Inez were married on October 3, 1960. He worked for Piccadilly Cafeterias for 27 years working up from dishwasher to eventually manager.
He and Inez also owned and operated F J Quality Services for several years before retiring. After retiring, Floyd enjoyed woodworking and traveling to various arts and crafts shows.
He was a longstanding, faithful member of Washington Ave. Church of Christ in Odessa, TX.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Preece, sisters, Louise Moseng and Leona Rogers.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Inez Allen, sister Lorraine Hamilton, children, John Allen, Larissa Gardner and husband David, Gena Penn and husband Mark, grandchildren, Brian,, Amy, Mac, Erin, and Nick, greatgranddaughter, Cali Beth and niece Sharon Stoddard.
Pallbearers will be Brian Gardner, Mac Penn, Tyler Gardner, and Jack Gardner.
Memorials may be given to Southwest Bible Institute and Compass Hospice.

The family of Floyd Allen wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Lui and his wife Nancy, Dr. Timothy George and his staff at the Cancer Center, Dr. Life Barnard, the Staff of Encompass Home Health Care, Shannon Kizer and her Staff of Compass Hospice and the nurses and doctors at Medical Center Hospital
